The comedy follows what happens when a terminally ill father called Michael sets up a council of fathers to help raise his children after he dies.
Rick Gomez has now signed up to play the "fitness dad" on the council, Deadline says. The character is responsible for making sure the children get enough exercise and eat enough vegetables.
Gomez's past work includes roles in Justified, What About Brian, Band Of Brothers and the movie Sin City.
Meanwhile, Richard T. Jones will star in the project as the "homework dad". He has previously worked on shows including Judging Amy and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and recently had guest roles in Grey's Anatomy and Bones.
The Council Of Dads cast also features Kyle Bornheimer, Diane Farr, Patrick Breen and Ken Howard.
