Rushdie 'writing drama for Showtime'

According to Deadline, the Booker Prize-winning author is penning a screenplay for Showtime.
The drama, which is called Next People, is said to examine different aspects of American life.
Rushdie reportedly went straight to Showtime with the project after being impressed with the network's entertainment president David Nevins.
Rushdie is also expected to executive produce the series.
