The comedy, which is being executive produced by Jack Black, focuses on a journalist called AJ Wilder whose life is affected by the various assignments he carries out.
According to TV Line, Brewster will play AJ's wife Stacey. The character, who is a lawyer, is described as "feisty".
Brewster is currently starring as Emily Prentiss in Criminal Minds but her role was reduced this season. Her final episode is due to air on Wednesday, but the show's executives are allegedly hoping that if her pilot is not picked up she will return as a series regular.
As well as her role in Criminal Minds, Brewster has previously appeared in shows including Friends, Huff and Andy Richter Controls The Universe. She has also provided voices for American Dad and Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law.
