The comedy focuses on three families whose children play little league sports together.
Rob Corddry and Paula Marshall will star as members of the Weller family, who move from California to Austin.
They are surprised to discover that their African-American acquaintances the Burlesons take sport very seriously. Meanwhile, they find out that their Latino neighbours, the Pachecos, raise their children very differently.
Deadline reports that Boyar has signed up to play the patriarch of the Pacheco family. The character, who owns a pizza restaurant, is described as outgoing and unpretentious.
Boyar previously appeared in Over There and The Bernie Mac Show and has had guest roles in shows including Southland, Modern Family, The Closer and 24.
Little In Common will also star Gabrielle Union and Kevin Hart.
