The creators of $#*! My Dad Says have confirmed that they are planning for a second season.

Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker told TV Overmind that fan reaction to the CBS sitcom's first run will shape future episodes.

"We figured out toward the end of the season what fans enjoyed Ed (William Shatner), so we plan to [build] off of that for the next season," said Schumacker. "We want him more involved in the world and with Vince (Will Sasso) and Bonnie (Nicole Sullivan) having a baby, it's going to be a great opportunity for us to show Ed's child rearing practices."

The pair added that they are still hopeful about a potential renewal, despite the lack of promotion given to the latter half of the show's first season.

"[That] was something we were aware of and spoke to CBS about," confirmed Halpern. "We think CBS may have thought our show had all the audience we were going to get. In the end they did what they felt was right."

"The non-political answer would be that this sucked," added Schumacker. "We wanted more promotion and just didn't get it. We were upset as we felt they were cutting us down. But we thank them for all the promotion given to us at the beginning of the series."

$#*! My Dad Says airs on Thursdays at 8.30/7.30c on CBS.
