Parker Posey signs for 'Big C' role

Parker Posey has signed up for a recurring role in the new season of The Big C.

The actress will appear in four episodes of the Showtime drama's second season as Poppy, an older woman who strikes up an unlikely relationship with Adam (Gabriel Basso).

Posey's recent television credits include short-lived Fox sitcom The Return of Jezebel James and a guest appearance on HBO's Bored to Death. She has also joined the cast of HBO television movie Hemingway & Gellhorn.

Ella Enchanted star Hugh Dancy was previously confirmed to be joining The Big C. It has now been announced that he will play Lee, a cancer patient who befriends Cathy (Laura Linney) when they both take part in an experimental drug trial.

Alan Alda will also appear in the new season as Dr Atticus Sherman, Cathy's new oncologist.

The Big C is currently shooting in Stamford, Connecticut and will premiere on June 27 at 10.30pm on Showtime.
