The project will follow Nina Locke (Miranda Otto) and her three children as they move to a new family home and discover mysterious keys hidden within the mansion's walls.
"So far the pilot's been extremely faithful," Orci told IGN. "We just finishing shooting it about a week ago, we're in the middle of editing, we're putting in the effects [and] we'll turn it in in a couple of weeks."
He added: "It's... faithful to what it was, because the graphic novel had great art and it was really well-written."
Orci also claimed that the show's horror elements will be rooted in character and not "gratuitous".
"It is about a family and... it is taking what happens to them seriously," he said. "It's coming out of a real place of their fears, and their healing as a family. I think it's going to be okay."
Sarah Bolger, Nick Stahl, Jesse McCartney, Ksenia Solo, Skylar Gaertner and Harrison Thomas will all star in the Locke & Key pilot, which has been directed by Otto Romanek
