The show stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former senator Selina Meyer, who becomes disillusioned with being Vice-President after landing the job.
The comedy, set in Washington DC, was written by The Thick of It creator Armando Iannucci. He will also serve as director and executive producer on the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Anna Chlumsky (Lights Out) and Tony Hale (Arrested Development) will also star in the series, while Chris Godsick and Frank Rich will serve as executive producers.
Iannucci confirmed the project last year and described it as a "cousin" of The Thick Of It.
The show marks Louis-Dreyfus's return to series television following The New Adventures of Old Christine.
