The CW has announced early renewals for four of its serial dramas.

The Vampire Diaries receives an early renewal for its third season. Currently the network's most watched show, it attracts an average audience of four million viewers per week. Earlier this month, executive producer Julie Plec dropped hints about what the next full moon will mean for the show's characters.

Gossip Girl has been granted a fifth season. Showrunners Stephanie Savage and Josh Safran have promised a "juicy and fun" conclusion to the show's current run.

Supernatural has also been recommissioned for a seventh season. Creator Eric Kripke recently said that the forthcoming season finale would surprise viewers.

90210 has also been renewed for a fourth season. Showrunner Rebecca Sinclair has announced that she is leaving the series to pursue new projects.

Two key characters are also due to leave 90210 at the end of the current season.

The network is due to make a full schedule announcement next month.
