CBS sells $1billion of Fall ads
Published Wednesday, Jun 27 2001, 20:39 BST | By Neil Wilkes
CBS has sold almost all of its advertising slots for the Fall season, with combined sales of around $1 billion.
Whilst all other networks, spearheaded by NBC, decided to cut their ad rates in response to a slowing economy, CBS held tight.
The high sales rate is most likely down to the success of high-profile series such as Survivor and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as well as an 8 point increase in the 18-49 demo.
A CBS spokesman refused to comment on sales revenue, but did say: "As we continue to sell, we're more concerned about pricing than volume."
Insiders predict the total figure could end up as high as $1.7 billion.
