NBC Universal has formed a joint venture tentatively titled National Broadband Company with its affiliates to sell video generated by local stations online.
Video to be offered by the venture includes local news video, weather, lifestyle and sports pieces, as well as material from the wider NBC Universal library.
Terry Mackin, chairman of the NBC Affiliates Board, said that the new venture "will allow us to serve the market that seems to have an insatiable appetite for video."
