Eliza Dushku is to make a guest appearance in the upcoming third season of White Collar.

Series creator Jeff Eastin told The Hollywood Reporter that Dushku will play a "sexy" character who causes tension between Neal (Matt Bomer) and Sara (Hilarie Burton).

"[She appears at] a point where Neal and Sara have broken up," he explained. "She ends up having a short fling with Neal."

Eastin added that the character will be introduced in the season's ninth episode and could reappear in the future.

"We did it in such a way that if it works out, we could bring her back," he confirmed.

Dushku's past television credits include the lead roles in Dollhouse and Tru Calling. She also played the recurring role of Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has made guest appearances on The Big Bang Theory and Ugly Betty.

Jonathan Silverman, Moran Atias, Jayne Atkinson, William Sadler, Anna Chlumsky and Neil Jackson are among the other actors confirmed to appear in future episodes of White Collar.

The third season of White Collar begins Tuesday, June 7 at 9/8c on USA.
