Greg Grunberg has said that he would like to work on a spinoff of Love Bites.

The NBC romantic comedy finally premiered last night after delays, a cut in the episode order and rumours that it would never be broadcast.

The show's star Becki Newton recently admitted that she would be open to working on a second season, but Grunberg said that he does not think NBC is likely to renew the series.

"I think they're going to be surprised by the audience," he told the New York Post. "Remember, some of the biggest shows out there started in the summer.

"Thing is, Love Bites is not a cheap show. It's like three pilots every week - to have a crew out all the time filming is expensive... So it would really have to be a big hit for NBC to say, 'Let's do another season'."

However, Grunberg admitted that he would like to explore the romance between his character Judd and Colleen (Constance Zimmer) in more detail.

"What I'm really hoping is that after these episodes air, everyone falls in love with the relationship between me and Constance, and NBC gives us a sitcom," he said. "I'm telling you, it's magic working with her. I think they know that, but if the audience responds... who knows?"

Love Bites airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC.
