The anchor left the CBS Evening News earlier this month and has since been confirmed to host her own show on ABC.
Commenting on what she hopes to base the programme around, she told Extra: "I like to interact with people. I sort of have a big personality."
Couric also discussed the possibility of reuniting with former Today show co-host Matt Lauer, adding: "That's something we talked about one day, working together. Maybe one day in the future we'll reunite."
She has described her new show as "topical and live" and said that it will incorporate elements of The Oprah Winfrey Show and the Today show.
Couric recently confessed that she is excited to have more free time with her family after leaving CBS.
