The journalist, who previously read the news on the programme, took her place alongside Matt Lauer at the anchor desk today, following the departure of Meredith Vieira yesterday.
"I really feel like Cinderella. Ann Curry aka Cinderella," she told viewers, after opening the show by saying: "I'm Ann Curry and I'm in for... I guess nobody this morning. Me, myself and I. I can't believe it. It's such a thrill."
Curry was announced as Vieira's replacement in May. Vieira confirmed during a morning broadcast that she was stepping down as co-anchor after five years on the show to spend more time with her family.
Lauer opened today's show by proclaiming it was "an exciting new era", later telling Curry that they were starting "an exciting new chapter in the history of this show".
"In many ways this is a very comfortable fit," he said. "You've been with his programme for 14 years, longer at NBC. It's a bit like a member of the family simply moving to a new seat at the table and we're thrilled to have you here."
Vieira's departure was marked with a surprise-filled Today on Wednesday, featuring a musical performance by Carole King and a flash-mob style singalong to 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey as Lauer led Vieira through the building.
She admitted to viewers that it was an emotional day, saying: "It's tough, it's a hard one. Very mixed emotions. I'm looking at everybody right here... I know it's right but it's hard."
