The 1999 film, which starred Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as twin vigilantes Connor and Murphy MacManus, was a critical and commercial failure on initial release, but later gained a cult following on home video. A sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, was released in 2009.
Duffy told We Got It Covered: "We've been approached to do a possible Boondock Saints TV series. So the fans may be getting a part three as a television show."
He added that both Saw 3D actor Flanery and The Walking Dead star Reedus are keen to reprise their original roles.
"We might be able to pull that off," suggested Duffy. "I actually called both Sean and Norman and they both said 'Hell yeah, we'll drop everything'."
Asked if the strong language and violence of the Boondock Saints franchise would lead to any potential television series airing on cable, Duffy confirmed: "That is correct."
