The actor has signed a new two-year deal to reprise his role as Aaron 'Hotch' Hotchner believed to be worth seven figures, according to TV Line.
The agreement, which more than doubles Gibson's previous salary, comes just two weeks before production is due to begin on the CBS crime drama's seventh run.
It was previously reported that the Criminal Minds writing team had assembled to begin work on new episodes while still uncertain of Gibson's status.
Gibson's co-star Joe Mantegna (David Rossi) recently insisted that he was "confident" that the star would strike a new deal.
AJ Cook (Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau) and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss) will also return as series regulars for the new season.
The seventh season of Criminal Minds will air on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS in the fall
