It was announced last week that the Source Code star will appear in the forthcoming season seven premiere episode of the survival series starring Bear Grylls.
In anticipation of the episode, Discovery has unveiled a new promo featuring shots from Gyllenhaal and Grylls's two-day stint in the Iceland wilderness.
"I kind of have a fear of heights," Gyllenhaal admits in the clip, before crossing an enormous gorge.
Grylls recently claimed that he pushed Gyllenhaal to the edge, stating that the actor faced a number of crazy conditions during filming, including river crossings and torrential downpours.
Will Ferrell previously appeared on an episode of the series, in which the actor had to drink his own urine to survive.
Man vs Wild premieres on July 11 at 9pm on Discovery.
