Damages co-creator Glenn Kessler has revealed that he has an idea of how the series will end.

The legal drama, which recently moved to DirecTV, focuses on the complex relationship between Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) and her former protégé Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne).

Kessler told TV Line: "We always envisioned the series as being an exploration of that relationship, and we have a sense of what the endpoint of that relationship would be."

The producer promised that the interaction between Patty and Ellen will reach a "satisfying" conclusion once Damages comes to an end.

"Once we know we're going to end the series, we will end that relationship in a way that's satisfying and hopefully enjoyable for the audience," he said.

Damages has been picked up for a fourth and fifth season by DirecTV, while Glenn Kessler's brother and producing partner Todd A Kessler recently suggested that the show could continue for a sixth run.

The new season of Damages premieres on July 13 at 10pm.
