A&E is reportedly close to picking up its pilot Longmire to series.

The drama, based on Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire Mystery novels, stars Robert Taylor as a sheriff in Wyoming who is still recovering from his wife's death.

Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Cassidy Freeman and Bailey Chase are among the other stars taking part in the project.

A&E is now leaning towards ordering a season of the drama, Deadline claims.

However, the network has reportedly decided not to move forward with its pilot Big Mike.

The drama starred Heroes actor Greg Grunberg as a plus-size detective who is good at his job but struggles to deal with his personal life, but has now been dropped by A&E.

Pierce Brosnan and Melissa George recently signed up to star in A&E's new adaptation of the Stephen King novel Bag of Bones. The network has also just renewed its drama Breakout Kings for a second season.
