Jake McDorman has been promoted to a series regular on upcoming NBC comedy Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea.

The new sitcom, which stars Laura Prepon, is based on the memoirs of comedienne Chelsea Handler.

McDorman, who played a love interest for Prepon's character in the pilot, will now appear on a regular basis as a bartender, according to TV Line.

The actor previously played Evan Chambers on ABC Family's Greek and has appeared in episodes of House, CSI: Miami and Memphis Beat.

It was recently announced that the Vodka series was being overhauled for "creative reasons", with actors Natalie Morales, Angel Laketa Moore and Jo Koy all being dropped from the show.

Roseanne Barr is also in negotiations to take on a guest role in the sitcom, it was reported in May.

Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea is expected to debut on NBC in mid-season.
