It was recently reported that Fox, ABC and NBC were all interested in the comedian's latest project.
NBC has now emerged as the victor and has made a pilot commitment, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The potential series will star Silverman as a woman readjusting to being single after a decade spent in a relationship.
Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder will co-write the script alongside Silverman, having previously worked with her on Comedy Central's The Sarah Silverman Program.
NBC has commissioned a number of female-led comedies for the upcoming television season, including Whitney Cummings sitcom Whitney and the Laura Prepon-starring Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea.
