The MDA announced earlier this month that Lewis, who has hosted the annual fundraiser since 1966, was no longer its national chairman and would not front the upcoming 2011 ceremony.
However, a recent report suggested that Lewis had been reinstated as the host.
A spokesperson for Lewis, who announced his plans to retire as host in May, has since told Reuters that speculation the comedian will return to the telethon "is not accurate".
The news agency reports that the author of the original story concerning a possible return has since explained that his source later clarified that he meant Lewis and the MDA had "reconciled" rather than Lewis had been "reinstated".
So You Think You Can Dance's Nigel Lythgoe, The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney, Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell and journalist Jann Carl will co-host the 2011 event, with Celine Dion, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and Jordin Sparks announced as musical guests.
American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson and the cast of The View are also slated to appear.
The 2011 MDA telethon airs Sunday, September 4.
