Supernatural creator Eric Kripke will write and executive produce the project based on the DC Comics character, reports Deadline.
Boston Brand is Deadman, the spirit of a murdered trapeze artist who inhabits the bodies of the living in a quest for justice. He was created in the 1960s by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino.
Kripke will continue as executive producer on Supernatural, but is handing over his showrunner duties.
"We're looking next year to do a superhero show if the right superhero comes to be," CW president Mark Pedowitz told the Television Critics Association last month.
Deadman played a central role in DC's recent Brightest Day limited series.
The first story of DC Universe Presents will star the character as part of DC's upcoming 52 title relaunch.
