Deal inked for final season of 'The Shield'
US cable network FX has commissioned a final, seventh season of cop drama The Shield.

Michael Chiklis and fellow cast members have all signed on for the final batch of thirteen episodes, due to air early in 2008.

The sixth season - currently in production for transmission next year - was expected to be the last.

FX president John Landgraf confirmed that the seventh really would mark the end, however. He told Variety: "I know what the arc is of the final season, almost through the last episode, and this is definitely the end of it."
