A former commando turned archaeologist, West Jr traverses the globe searching for valuable relics with a band of fellow travellers, including his 12-year old adopted daughter.
The first season of The Seven Wonders will be based on the first two books in the series, 2005's Seven Ancient Wonders (Seven Deadly Wonders in the US) and 2007's The Six Sacred Stones, according to Deadline.
North Country writer Michael Seitzman will write the pilot script for the project and will also executive produce alongside Mark Gordon.
"[The novels] feel like big boyhood and girlhood adventure stories," said Seitzman. They are really fun and remind me of all the movies in the [adventure] genre I loved."
Seitzman and Gordon have already sold a pilot for family drama Americana to ABC this pilot season.
Other drama projects in development at the network include a new legal series from Changing Lanes writer Michael Tolkin, a modern-day update of the Jekyll and Hyde story and a spy show from Josh Friedman.
A psychological drama by Fight Club's Jim Uhls and cop series Yard Dogs are also in the works.
