'The Closer' lands early third season

US cable network TNT has renewed detective drama The Closer for a third, 15-episode season.
The news comes after the second season debuted a month ago, recording the highest ever ratings for an original scripted series on cable.
"Once again The Closer has been one of television's biggest success stories of the summer," said Steve Koonin, evp of TNT. "[The show] is proving itself to be a sustainable hit with lasting appeal for drama lovers."
The third season will premiere in the US next summer.
