The cable network show, which airs The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report and South Park, will tape The Comedy Awards at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on April 28, 2012.
Don Mischer, who will produce the show for the second time, said: "With the combination of the comedic talent, the city of New York and how successfully the show came together earlier this year, we couldn't be more excited about producing The Comedy Awards again in 2012."
The Comedy Awards is an annual event to honour and celebrate all that is funny, and the second annual show will premiere on Comedy Central on May 6, 2012.
"As much as I'd like to brag that we rig this in favour of our friends, the truth is probably more gratifying to the winners - they are chosen by a massive voting body of their comedy peers," said Kent Alterman, head of original programming and production at Comedy Central.
In June, MTV International aired a series of new idents for Comedy Central to bring "the channel's branding to life".
