The Eureka actress will play a lawyer on the Bones spinoff, according to TV Line.
Her character Athena Brooks will represent Big Glade, a corrupt hip-hop mogul played by rap star 50 Cent.
The Brooks character will debut in a February episode of The Finder and will also share a past with Leo (Michael Clarke Duncan).
In addition to her Eureka role, Richardson-Whitfield featured in a 2006 Bones episode and has also appeared on Criminal Minds, House and CSI: Miami.
Mercedes Masöhn and Maddie Hasson joined The Finder in July, to replace departing cast member Saffron Burrows.
The Fox drama will premiere in January 2012.
