The Good Wife's Dee Johnson has signed up to become co-showrunner on Starz drama Boss.

The series stars Kelsey Grammer as Tom Kane, the corrupt mayor of Chicago who develops a debilitating mental illness.

Show creator Farhad Safinia currently serves as sole showrunner, in his first TV producing role. He previously worked alongside experienced producers Richard Levine and Lyn Greene, but the pair quit their Boss roles in October.

Johnson - who has previously worked on shows such as ER and Southland - will now team with Safinia for the show's second season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Boss was picked up for a second run in September, before the first season had aired.

The show has proven popular with critics, but has struggled in the ratings. The most recent episode pulled in just 250,000 viewers for Starz.

Boss continues on Fridays at 10/9c.
