Creator Evan Bogart previously spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how the show chose its guest mentors, saying: "Our main criteria was that they have some experience working with kids, but mostly we're looking for people who started out when they were young, doing film, musicals."
He added that Sparks would work on "vocal technique" with the contestants.
A post on the show's official Facebook page added: "This week, the Majors & Minors cast learns the original song 'Anything' and gets a surprise visit from guest mentor Jordin Sparks.
"She gives the kids singing tips and joins them in singing her hit 'Battlefield'."
Sparks is currently working with Whitney Houston on a remake of the 1976 movie Sparkle, inspired by the story of Diana Ross and The Supremes.
Houston recently praised American Idol's season six winner as a true talent, saying: "Her voice is like an angel's. I think [Sparkle is] going to let the world see that the American Idol that was chosen and won is truly capable of handling it."
