The actress earned an Emmy for her role as the eccentric Joy Turner on Earl, but admitted to Access Hollywood that joining the new series I Hate My Teenage Daughter came only after careful consideration.
Pressly explained: "I really wanted to make sure that what I did wasn't something that just was gonna be half-assed, that it was something that was gonna be really, really great, working with really great people and also from great writers. We got all of that."
Pressly also said her I Hate My Teenage Daughter role Annie is quite different from My Name Is Earl's boisterous Joy.
"Joy was such a big character, I had to let that die down for a little bit and then I realised it's not dying down because she's on seven days a week now [in syndication]," the star commented. "So the only way I was gonna get away from it was doing something the complete opposite, which is this character Annie, and this show."
I Hate My Teenage Daughter, starring Pressly and Katie Finneran, premieres Wednesday, November 30 at 9.30/8.30c on Fox.
