The first season focused on under-qualified American salesman Todd Margaret (Cross) attempting to promote the toxic energy drink Thunder Muscle in the UK, unknowingly breaking international laws and aiding terrorists along the way.
Cross has revealed that season two will shed light on the possibly malevolent motivations of Todd's work buddy Dave (Blake Harrison).
"It's a comedy but the story is pretty crazy," Cross told MTV News.
The comedian continued: "It's about this guy who finds himself with an opportunity to bluff his way into a position in the UK, a place he's never been - he's never been outside of Portland, Oregon - to go to the UK subsidiary of this company that sells energy drinks.
"What you learn, not immediately, but what you start to figure out around [late season one is]... how to watch it, that there's a bit of mystery to it, and not everything is as it appears. All of that stuff is answered in season two."
Will Arnett will reprise his role as Todd's overbearing boss Brent Wilts and the second season will also feature a guest appearance by Jon Hamm.
The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret airs Fridays at 10.30/9.30c on IFC.
