GCB stars Bibb as a recently divorced mother who returns to the Texas neighbourhood in which she grew up.
Bibb has now told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour that she is honoured to be compared to Desperate Housewives but does not think there are many similarities, TV Line reports.
"If we have the run that Desperate Housewives had, the angels have sung!" she joked. "That would be amazing!
"But really where [the two shows are] similar is that we're both stories about a group of women. So if you're expecting Desperate Housewives, I don't know if we're very much like that."
GCB's executive producer Robert Harling also said that he enjoys the comparisons but added that the two shows have different worlds.
"The fabulous thing about Desperate Housewives is that it's universal and the dynamic could be happening everywhere," he said. "And the fabulous thing about what these [GCB] actors do is create a world that is very specific... Our world can only take place in Texas, and only in Dallas, and only in a specific part of Dallas."
GCB, which will feature guest appearances from stars including Kevin Alejandro, Grant Bowler and Sheryl Crow, will premiere on March 4 on ABC.
