Star Wars producer Rick McCallum has revealed more details about the planned TV spinoff Underworld.

McCallum recently confirmed the working title for the project, explaining that it will focus on "the criminals and the gangs" of the Star Wars universe.

"Expect a lot of smugglers, gangsters, bounty hunters, and a few Wall Street-type power brokers," he told Entertainment Weekly. "Nothing about Luke or the Skywalker saga."

McCallum added that over 50 scripts have been penned "by writers hailing from Europe, Australia, and North America" but reiterated that Star Wars: Underworld will not reach television screens for many years.

"I think we don't have the technology yet to be able to do it for the level of money that it would have to be done," he explained. "Plus, the world of television is imploding. No-one knows whether you should make a network show or a cable show.

"I'm really excited about it though, and I hope George does do it. I really do."

Seth Green and his Robot Chicken co-creator Matthew Senreich are also collaborating with Lucasfilm on a new Star Wars television comedy.

"That's coming along great," McCallum confirmed. "I've seen a few of their little skits. They're great."
