The Game of Thrones star, who took home the prize for 'Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television', revealed that his mother had no faith in him winning the award.
"I was talking to my mother in Jersey before I came out and she said, 'Have fun, but have you seen Mildred Pierce? Guy Pearce is so good, he's gonna win'," Dinklage recounted. "So, I haven't seen Mildred Pierce, but I'm sure it's really good."
"I just love our mums 'cause they keep us humble," he continued to appreciative laughter from the audience.

Thanking Game of Thrones author George R R Martin, the television show's creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss and broadcaster HBO, the actor went on to reveal that he is a proud new father of a baby girl with wife Erica Schmidt.
He added that his "lovely" newborn daughter "has her first babysitter tonight" and admitted that he's "a little nervous".
