Golden Globes attract 16 million viewers for NBC

The 69th Golden Globe Awards on NBC were slightly down from last year's broadcast.

The awards ceremony hosted by Ricky Gervais attracted 16.84 million viewers and a 5.0 adults 18-49 demo rating at 8-11pm, while the Red Carpet Special brought in 7.34m (1.9) at 7pm.

Fox won the night overall thanks to its broadcast of the NFC Divisional playoff game between the Giants and the Packers. The overrun game scored a huge 40.08m (14.3) at 7pm.

The Simpsons made the most of the huge numbers by rising 296% to 15.7m (6.8) at 8pm. The premiere episode of Napoleon Dynamite amused a peak of 9.51m (4.6) at 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Family Guy also jumped to 8.5m (4.4) at 9pm.

ABC's Once Upon a Time fell 11% to 9.83m (3.3) at 8pm, while Desperate Housewives equalled a series low of 7.83m (2.7) at 9pm. Pan Am levelled at 3.92m (1.3) at 10pm.

CBS's Sunday premiere of Undercover Boss brought in 11.56m (3.0) at 8pm, while The Good Wife fell 30% to 9.30m (1.9) at 9pm.
