Megan Dodds has landed a role in CSI: NY.

The actress will play a new love interest for Mac (Gary Sinise) in five episodes of the CBS drama, TV Guide reports.

Her character Christine, who will first appear in the 12th instalment of the season, has a history with Mac as her brother was in the police academy with him.

"There's a familiarity and an association from way back when," the show's executive producer Zach Reiter said. "But this is a woman all these years later who reaches out to reconnect, more or less to say, 'I read about what you did for the [Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance] and the survivors of 9/11'. It snowballs from there."

Reiter added that fans will see "the courtship... if one exists".

"There are aspects of that relationship that become a little bit complicated, but what we're hoping is to see whether Mac can successfully move on from [his late wife] Claire," he said. "It's fun to see him awkwardly go through that."

Dodds recently appeared in Detroit 1-8-7 and has had guest roles in shows such as House, Spooks and Lie To Me.

Spencer Grammer, Aaron Hill and Lee Majors have also recently signed up to guest star in CSI: NY.

The show airs on Fridays at 9/8c on CBS.
