David Koechner has landed a role in the forthcoming US remake of Friday Night Dinner.

NBC's revamp of the UK comedy is being overseen by Parks and Recreation co-creator Greg Daniels.

Anchorman star Koechner has joined the cast, according to Deadline, though it is currently unclear what role he will play.

Koechner previously collaborated with Daniels on NBC's The Office, in which he played the boorish Todd Packer.

He will also appear opposite Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in action-comedy movie This Means War and has filmed a role in horror sequel Piranha 3DD.

The original Friday Night Dinner - which features The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird and Episodes actress Tamsin Greig - will air on Channel 4 in the UK later this year.
