Krumholtz has landed a part as the local church's blind organist, TV Line reports.
His character Carl is allergic to dogs, so the congregation decides to get him a guide pig.
Meanwhile, Birdsong has reportedly signed up to appear in a different episode as the town's mayor Suzie, who often turns up at work intoxicated.
Birdsong recently starred in the movie The Descendants, while Krumholtz has worked on shows including The Playboy Club, Numb3rs and The Closer.
Ashley Tisdale also recently signed up for a guest role in Raising Hope, which airs on Tuesdays on Fox.
