CBS is pitting an evening of reality shows against the premiere of NBC's Lost, it has emerged.

An extra Wednesday night edition of Big Brother 2 will air on CBS at 8pm on September 5. Execs hope the show, which has picked up in the ratings since launch, will provide a strong inheritance for new series The Amazing Race, which will premiere at 9pm.

NBC's Lost, which has a similar premise to Race, will go out at 8pm.
