Kathy Griffin: 'My new talkshow won't be celebrity-driven'

Kathy Griffin has insisted that her new talkshow will not be "celebrity-driven".
The stand-up comedian and former My Life on the D-List star will helm a new late night chatshow this spring on Bravo.

In an interview with Parade, Griffin revealed that she hopes Kathy will remain a space where guests can say whatever they'd like without worrying about offending anyone.
"It's actually not going to be completely celebrity-driven, if at all. I have to be free to say whatever it is I have to say. If I am going to have a guest, I certainly don't want them saying, 'Well, I am friends with Gwyneth Paltrow so don't say anything about her tonight.' Or, 'Well, you made fun of my friend last week so now I'm going to cancel'," the 51-year-old explained.
"I just don't roll that way. I like the model of having people on the show - anyone from my mum or friends - who I think are funny. If celebrities want to come on and have a sense of humour, fantastic. But I don't think I have to be chasing down people."
Asked if she stopped filming My Life on the D-List as she had become too famous, Griffin answered: "That's what Bravo said to me, which was nice and I appreciated it. They've been talking to me about a talkshow for a number of years. But I kept saying there was more D-List left in me.
"But after we pretty much travelled the world with that show - Iraq, Bora Bora, everywhere - it was time. I'll still do two stand up specials, maybe try to do another CD for next year. I'm a busy girl, I love it."
