America's Next Top Model star Yaya DaCosta has landed a role in a drama pilot for ABC.

The project, which is currently untitled, stars Max Thieriot as a science student called Carter who discovers that his destiny is tied into the twin kingdoms of heaven and hell.

The show is expected to take place against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential elections.

DaCosta has now signed up to play Amy, Deadline reports.

Amy, a member of a "very special Council", knows about Carter's situation and becomes friends with him.

DaCosta came second in the third cycle of America's Next Top Model and has since starred in All My Children and Ugly Betty. She also recently had a guest role as Anita in House.

The ABC project has been created by Independence Day and 2012 writer Roland Emmerich.
