The project, which does not yet have a name, is being produced by comedian Jimmy Fallon.
It focuses on a group of three immature fathers.
Cregger has now landed one of the lead roles in the potential series, Deadline reports.
His character, a programmer, is described as easy going but is trying to balance his job, children and marriage.
Cregger previously starred in Friends with Benefits, which aired one season on NBC last year.
