Former CBS, Fox News anchor to join CNN

Paula Zahn has joined CNN as anchor of a new morning programme currently in development, it was announced by Walter Isaacson, chairman and CEO of the CNN News Group. The morning programme, which will debut next summer, will be broadcast from CNN’s new, street-level studio in New York’s Time & Life Building.

"Paula is a veteran journalist with a reputation for being smart and engaging, and we’re thrilled that she’s joining CNN," said Isaacson. "Not only does she excel as a journalist, but she also has extensive experience with morning programming. Viewers like and respect her, and we’re going to capitalize on her strengths in this new programme."

Zahn most recently was host of The Edge with Paula Zahn, a daily news programme on Fox News Channel. She joined Fox in 1999 as anchor of its evening news, The Fox Report. She previously spent 10 years at CBS News where she co-hosted CBS Morning News and anchored the CBS Evening News Saturday Edition. She also covered the Olympics and various world events and substituted for anchor Dan Rather.

Zahn began her career at WFAA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Dallas. In 1979 she moved to San Diego to work for the CBS affiliate. Zahn worked at stations in Houston, Boston and Los Angeles before joining ABC News in 1987. She co-anchored World News This Morning and regularly appeared on Good Morning America.
