CBS has greenlit a new unscripted series from CSI showrunner Carol Mendelsohn.

Dogs in the City will be fronted by New York City dog trainer Justin Silver, and will premiere on May 30.

The show will be a similar format to Nat Geo WILD's Dog Whisperer, with Silver helping canine owners deal with general behaviour problems.

Mendelsohn said of the series: "Dogs are at the centre of the story here, but this is a show that reveals as much about human nature as man's best friend."

Justin Silver owns his own pet care company, and also works as a comedian and founder of Funny for Fido, a charity event that raises money for homeless animals.

Carol Mendelsohn was revealed to be working on three crime dramas for CBS last year.

She is set to executive produce the pilot for upcoming cop drama Widow Detective.
