Mindy Kaling's new Fox comedy pilot has received an official title.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the comedy will be simply titled Mindy, and is described as a show about a "young Bridget Jones-type doctor" navigating through life.

Mindy, written by and starring Kaling, will also feature her Office co-star Ed Helms and Saturday Night Live cast member Bill Hader.

Kaling currently plays Kelly Kapoor on NBC's The Office, based on the UK show created by Ricky Gervais.

The future of The Office has been cast into doubt as reports of stalled contract renewals with stars like John Krasinski and talk of a possible reboot of the series with new actors have emerged.

Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute on the programme, also has a spinoff series in development.
