'afterlife' heads for America
Published Monday, Oct 2 2006, 16:56 BST | By James Welsh
A major acquisitions spree at BBC America will result in ITV1's afterlife crossing the Atlantic.
The critically acclaimed supernatural thriller - for which filming on season two has just finished - will air alongside other ITV shows including Northern Lights and Eleventh Hour.
The ITV acquisitions are part of a broader package designed to refresh BBC America's schedule as it gains greater carriage and wider recognition in the US. A variety of Fremantle shows, ranging from Hardware to How Clean Is Your House, will join the channel's lineup.
BBC America will also co-produce three new dramas: Goldplated with World Productions, After Thomas with Hartswood Films, and The Innocence Project with Tightrope Pictures. The trio will be seen in the UK on Channel 4, ITV1 and BBC One respectively.
