The actor will appear in the third episode of the USA programme's third season, according to TV Line.
Hines will play a Peace Corps volunteer named Wade, who is described as having "an appetite for living and a good heart".
Wade will apparently work closely with Parker, the recurring character played by Devin Kelley.
Since Lie To Me's cancellation in May 2011, Hines has landed a recurring role in ABC's Scandal and guest starred in Castle.
Covert Affairs is confirmed to return to USA on July 10.
