Lowe will play prosecutor Jeff Ashton in Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony, reports Deadline.
The film - based on Ashton's own book - will focus on the time when the lawyer was building a case against Anthony, convinced of her guilt.
Lowe's recent credits include starring roles on The West Wing and NBC comedy Parks and Recreation.
He also appeared in a previous Lifetime true crime movie, playing Drew Peterson - a former police sergeant suspected of killing his third and fourth wives - in Drew Peterson: Untouchable.
